Ariana Grande has posted an emotional tribute to her fans after she was seen crying onstage.

Videos posted on social media showed the pop star appearing to break down during R.E.M, a song about ex-boyfriend Pete Davidson, at her concert in St Louis, Missouri.

The 26-year-old, who is currently on her Sweetener world tour, wrote in a lengthy message that she was thankful to fans for accepting her “humanness” and said she was “still processing a lot”.

Grande has dealt with a number of hardships in recent years, including the death of former boyfriend Mac Miller and a suicide attack on her Manchester concert which killed 22 people in May 2017.

In the message posted on social media, the American singer said: “Tour is wild. Life is wild.

“I’m grateful for the sea of love I have around me everyday and for the people who come to these shows and give all of us every ounce of energy they’ve got.”

She said she would continue on “no matter how hard it gets or how many feelings come up that are screaming at me to be processed and sorted through one day.”

Grande added: “I’m grounded by gratitude and promise not to give up on what I’ve started.

“I feel everything very intensely and have committed to doing this tour during a time in my life when I’m still processing a lot … so sometimes I cry a lot!

“I thank you for accepting my humanness.

“I’m not sure what I did to deserve to meet so many loving souls every night/to feel so much love, but I want you to know that it really does carry me through.”

She encouraged fans to “push through” if they are dealing with their own problems and admitted it was hard to balance having a career with self-care.

The singer was also seen crying during a concert in Pittsburgh, the hometown of late rapper Mac Miller.

Fans said Grande choked up and was briefly unable to continue singing during her opening song, Raindrops (An Angel Cried), which is believed to be about Miller.

She also apparently began to cry during Thank U, Next as she sang the lyrics, “Wish I could say thank you to Malcom, cause he was an angel”.

Many supporters have expressed concern for the singer, with some suggesting she postpone tour dates.

One Twitter user wrote: “i am genuinely concerned for ariana grande she needs time to grieve and to collect herself this constant pushing oh her to be on tour is obviously not good she’s been crying on stage every night my heart hurts for her.”

Another said: “ariana supposedly was crying tonight.. i knew she wasn’t okay since a few days ago . i really hope she’s okay . can she postpone tour … she deserves a break.”

But others pointed out the pop star has previously spoken out about continuing to tour, saying the shows made her “really happy lately, even the tough parts”.

The Sweetener world tour began in March this year and is expected to continue until October.
