AlphaTheta CDJ-3000X: Updated flagship player with larger screen, Wi-Fi and workflow improvements

AlphaTheta has introduced the CDJ-3000X, the successor to the CDJ-3000 and the first flagship under the AlphaTheta brand name. The unit retains the familiar CDJ layout but refines the design with a matte aluminium finish, wider jog wheel tension adjustment, and rebuilt Play and Cue buttons for greater durability. The SD card slot has been removed, while a USB-C port is now included alongside the traditional USB-A.
The most visible change is a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen, offering clearer fonts, smoother browsing, and playlist re-ordering directly on the deck. New functions include copy-and-paste search, track title hiding, and caching of tracks to ensure playback continues if media or Wi-Fi is interrupted. DJs can also tag tracks for pre-download, with up to 40–50 cached locally.
Connectivity has been upgraded with built-in Wi-Fi, NFC and QR login for rekordbox accounts, and support for streaming services such as TIDAL and Beatport. CloudDirectPlay also allows music access from Dropbox and Google Drive. Apple Music is not supported at launch. Single sign-on links accounts together for faster booth setup.
Performance updates include Gate Cue for momentary cue play, Smart Cue linking the Cue button to the last hot cue, and Hot Cue Preview for setting cues during playback. A grid editor enables more precise BPM adjustments. The sound path now uses a new ESS DAC and power supply for improved clarity, particularly on large systems.
At launch price of £2,399 / $2,999 / €2,799, the CDJ-3000X positions itself as the new club standard, modernising the platform while maintaining reliability. While stems and broader streaming support are absent, the refinements point to AlphaTheta’s push toward a cloud-ready DJ workflow.
