ALOK in Rio: 2.5 million attend record-breaking NYE show

Alok performed to an estimated 2.5 million people in Rio de Janeiro on New Year’s Eve, marking the largest DJ performance on record.
The show was officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the largest New Year’s Eve celebration in the world. According to Agência Brasil, the event featured 13 stages, a 12-minute fireworks display launched from 19 barges, and a coordinated drone show involving 1,200 drones.
Alok delivered an hour-long DJ set at midnight, performing to the record-breaking crowd gathered along Copacabana Beach. Other performers on the night included Gilberto Gil and Rio-born pop and R&B artist Iza.
Following the event, Alok shared performance footage online. The show follows a strong career period, including a No. 3 DJ Mag ranking last year and several high-profile collaborations released across 2025.
Earlier projects have also included work beyond the club circuit. In 2024, Alok collaborated with Indigenous musicians in Brazil on the album The Future is Ancestral, with all royalties and proceeds directed back to the participating communities.
Alok continues his January tour with shows in Matinhos on January 9, Cabedelo on January 10, and EDC Thailand in Phuket on January 17, 2026.
