Ministry of Sound: 'The Box' upgraded to celebrate 35th anniversary

Ministry of Sound is carrying out a major refurbishment of its main room, The Box, ahead of the club’s 35th anniversary celebrations. The London venue will close The Box throughout January 2026 while renovation work takes place.
As part of the upgrade, the club’s long-running Martin Audio system will be removed and replaced with a bespoke four-point KV2 sound system. The new installation will include KV2 SL412 top speakers alongside VHD2.21 and VHD2.16 subwoofers, marking a significant update to the room’s audio setup.
The layout of The Box will also be reworked. The DJ booth will be lowered to dancefloor level and redesigned as a modular structure, allowing for multiple configurations, including 360-degree performances. An elevated backstage area will surround the booth, and the room’s capacity is expected to increase by approximately 200 people.
Additional changes include a large overhead lighting installation featuring LED bars, video screens and reflective metal structures. Designed by Lucid Creates, the lighting and visual system aims to support a more immersive production environment while retaining the industrial character associated with the space.
The Box is scheduled to reopen on 30th and 31st January 2026 as part of Ministry of Sound’s anniversary programme, which will run throughout the year.
The relaunch events will include a back-to-back set from Kölsch and Pete Tong, alongside appearances from Lauren Lo Sung and other guests.
