The Clinker: Smartband debuts at Coachella 2026 to connect fans through music

Heineken has introduced The Clinker, a smartband designed to help festivalgoers connect through shared music tastes. The device debuted at Coachella 2026 and wraps around a can or glass, turning a simple toast into a way to discover musical compatibility.
The Clinker syncs with a user’s Spotify streaming data and compares listening preferences when two devices touch. If a match is found, the bands light up and generate a shared playlist, giving festival attendees an easy conversation starter with people who enjoy similar music.
The technology is part of Heineken’s wider “Fans Have More Friends” platform, which focuses on turning shared interests into real-world connections at music and sporting events. The company says the device was created to help overcome some of the social barriers that can exist at large festivals.
Available through the Heineken House activation at Coachella, The Clinker was distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. The debut was supported by performances from artists including Wale, Sean Paul, Big Boi and Coi Leray.
Following its Coachella launch, Heineken plans to expand The Clinker across additional festival partnerships during 2026, continuing its efforts to use music and technology to encourage connections between fans.
