The Warehouse Project plans a 2027 fallow year, with smaller events still to come

The Warehouse Project will take a fallow year in its current format in 2027, following a 2026 season marking 20 years of the series. Organisers say there will still be events, but on a much smaller scale, according to DJ Mag.

That means the announcement is a pause in the familiar format, not confirmation of a year without WHP activity. The organisers have not yet specified what the smaller events will look like or where they will take place, so the shape of the 2027 programme remains open.

The timing puts the change after a milestone season for an established name in Manchester clubbing. Twenty years is a substantial run, but the organisers’ statement does not explain why they have chosen to pause the current format or what they want to build next. Those details have not been announced.

The founders’ statement also ruled out a return to Store Street. That rules out one possible reading of the announcement, but it does not clarify which venues, if any, will host the smaller events. Nor does it establish whether they will form a single programme or take another shape.

For DJs and listeners who follow Manchester’s club calendar, the distinction matters: 2027 will not bring the current-format Warehouse Project, but some events are planned. Without dates or venues, there is not yet enough detail to understand how those events will fit into the city’s wider programme.

A smaller presence could still keep the project part of Manchester’s club conversation, but that depends on details yet to come.

The practical question for people following the series is what “much smaller scale” will mean in practice. Until organisers share a format, venue or schedule, the confirmed picture is limited: no current-format season in 2027, with smaller-scale events still planned.
