Competition terms for the DJ.Studio x Electric Takeover 2026

1. Promoters
The DJ.Studio x Electric Takeover 2026 Competition is organised by We Are MTR (UK) Limited (Company No. 11690690), operating as Electric, in collaboration with DJ.Studio.
For the purposes of these Terms & Conditions:
- "DJ.Studio" refers to the DJ.Studio platform and team responsible for the DJ.Studio Contest workflow and associated competition submission tools.
- "Electric" refers to Electric and/or We Are MTR (UK) Limited, responsible for the Electric broadcast opportunity, community profile journey, winner onboarding and Takeover Week programming.
- "Competition" refers to the DJ.Studio x Electric Takeover 2026 Competition.
2. Competition Overview
The Competition is designed to discover new DJ talent and provide selected winners with a featured guest mix opportunity during DJ.Studio Takeover Week on Electric, as well as a one-year CORE residency.
Entrants must create and submit their mix using DJ.Studio through the official DJ.Studio Contest workflow.
The submission route is:
Export > Contest > DJ.Studio x Electric Takeover
Entrants do not need to upload a separate exported MP3 as their Competition entry.
3. Key Dates
The Competition opens on:
Friday 10th July 2026 at 12:00 PM BST
The Competition closes on:
Friday 24th July 2026 at 12:00 PM BST
Judging will take place from:
Friday 24th July 2026 after the Competition closes - Wednesday 29th July 2026
Winners are expected to be announced on:
Friday 31st July 2026
Winner onboarding is expected to take place from:
Monday 3rd August - Sunday 9th August 2026
DJ.Studio Takeover Week on Electric is scheduled to take place from:
Wednesday 12th August - Sunday 16th August 2026
All dates and times are UK time / BST unless otherwise stated.
Electric and DJ.Studio reserve the right to amend the Competition dates, judging window, announcement date or Takeover Week schedule where reasonably necessary.
4. Eligibility
The Competition is open to entrants aged 18 or over.
By entering the Competition, entrants confirm that:
- They are aged 18 or over.
- They are legally able to enter the Competition.
- They have the right to submit their mix and DJ.Studio project.
- Their entry complies with these Terms & Conditions.
- Their entry does not infringe the rights of any third party.
- They have provided accurate entry information.
- They accept these Terms & Conditions.
Employees, contractors or representatives of DJ.Studio, Electric, We Are MTR (UK) Limited, Firebox Creative Limited, Creative Fix Limited or any directly connected organisations may be excluded from entering where a conflict of interest may arise.
Electric and DJ.Studio reserve the right to verify eligibility and may disqualify any entrant who does not meet the eligibility requirements.
5. How To Enter
Entrants must submit their entry through DJ.Studio using the official Contest workflow:
Export > Contest > DJ.Studio x Electric Takeover
The DJ.Studio Contest workflow will request required Competition information, which may include:
- Name
- Email address
- Country
- Acceptance of these Terms & Conditions
The workflow may also request optional diversity information, which may include:
- Gender
- Age range
Optional diversity information is not required to enter and will not be used during initial judging.
Entries submitted outside the official DJ.Studio Contest workflow may not be accepted.
Late, incomplete, corrupted, inaccessible or incorrectly submitted entries may be disqualified.
6. DJ.Studio Account, Access and Licence
Entrants must use DJ.Studio to create and submit their Competition entry.
If an entrant does not already have a DJ.Studio account or paid licence, they should:
- Download the DJ.Studio app.
- Create a DJ.Studio account.
- Contact the DJ.Studio team using the chat bubble in the app.
- Mention that they want to participate in the Electric contest.
The DJ.Studio team will help entrants with access so they can take part.
Entrants are responsible for ensuring they can access DJ.Studio and submit their entry before the Competition closes.
Electric and DJ.Studio are not responsible for entries that are late, incomplete or unsuccessful due to technical issues, connectivity issues, account access issues or failure to follow the submission process.
7. Mix and Project Requirements
Entries must be created and submitted using DJ.Studio.
Entrants may use DJ.Studio features including:
- Harmonic Mixing
- AutoMix
- Stems
- Transition Editor
- Effects
- Timeline Editing
- Samples
VSTs are not allowed for this Competition.
DJ jingles are not permitted. Voiceovers may be used sparingly and tastefully where they support the mix.
Entries must be suitable for broadcast and must not contain unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, offensive or otherwise inappropriate material.
Entrants are responsible for ensuring they have the right to use any music, samples, edits, recordings or other materials included in their mix or DJ.Studio project.
By entering, entrants confirm that their entry does not infringe any copyright, neighbouring rights, performer rights, moral rights, trade marks, privacy rights or other rights of any third party.
Electric and DJ.Studio reserve the right to disqualify entries that do not comply with these requirements.
Entries containing unauthorised bootlegs, edits or unofficial remixes may be disqualified unless the entrant can demonstrate that they have the required rights or permissions.
8. Optional Mixcloud and Electric Community Profile Journey
After submitting their official Competition entry through DJ.Studio, entrants may be invited to take optional additional steps, including:
- Exporting their mix to Mixcloud.
- Creating a free Electric community DJ profile.
- Adding their Mixcloud link, biography and social links to their Electric profile.
This optional Electric community profile journey is separate from the official Competition entry process.
Creating an Electric profile, adding a Mixcloud link or completing additional profile information is not required to enter and does not affect initial judging.

Electric may use Electric community profiles to help showcase entrants, support community discovery and promote the Competition.
9. Judging
Entries will be reviewed by Electric and DJ.Studio.
Judging may consider:
- Musical quality
- Track selection
- Programming and flow
- Creativity
- Technical execution
- Suitability for Electric's Takeover Week
- Category or slot fit
- Overall broadcast suitability
Judges may use review tools including star ratings, notes, average scores, shortlisting and export functionality.
The judging process is focused on musical quality and programming suitability.
Optional diversity information will not be used during initial judging.
Once shortlists are established, optional diversity information may be reviewed at the final programming stage to help ensure the final Takeover Week lineup reflects a broad and representative range of talent.
The judges' decision is final.
No correspondence will be entered into regarding judging decisions, except where Electric or DJ.Studio choose to provide feedback at their discretion.
10. Winner Selection
Final winners will be selected collaboratively by Electric and DJ.Studio.
Winner selection may consider:
- Judging scores
- Shortlist rankings
- Category suitability
- Overall programming balance
- Broadcast suitability
- Final Takeover Week schedule requirements
- Diversity and representation considerations at the final programming stage
Electric and DJ.Studio reserve the right to select reserve entrants if a winner is unable to participate, does not respond, does not meet eligibility requirements or cannot complete winner onboarding.
11. Prizes
Selected winners will receive:
- A featured two-hour guest mix during DJ.Studio Takeover Week on Electric this August.
- A one-year CORE residency.
- Promotion across relevant Electric and DJ.Studio channels, where agreed.
- Winner onboarding and profile support from Electric.
Prizes are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and have no cash alternative.
Electric and DJ.Studio reserve the right to amend, substitute or withdraw any prize element where reasonably necessary, provided that any replacement is of broadly equivalent value or purpose.
12. Winner Notification and Onboarding
Winners will be contacted using the information provided during entry.
Winners may be required to provide additional information for verification, legal, administrative, promotional, broadcast and residency onboarding purposes.
This may include:
- Confirmation of identity and eligibility
- Address
- Date of birth
- Performer Release Form
- Profile information
- Promotional images or assets
- Social links
- Any other information reasonably required for broadcast, promotion or onboarding
If a winner does not respond within the timeframe requested by Electric or DJ.Studio, fails to provide required information, fails to complete required documents, is found to be ineligible or is otherwise unable to participate, Electric and DJ.Studio reserve the right to select an alternative winner or reserve entrant.
13. Performer Release and Broadcast Rights
Winners may be required to sign a Performer Release Form or similar document before their guest mix is broadcast or before they are onboarded into the CORE residency.
By entering the Competition, entrants acknowledge that if they are selected as a winner, Electric and DJ.Studio may use their name, DJ name, likeness, profile information, entry information, mix details and related promotional materials for Competition, winner announcement, Takeover Week, broadcast and promotional purposes.
Winners grant Electric and DJ.Studio the right to use, publish, promote and share relevant winner materials in connection with the Competition, DJ.Studio Takeover Week and related promotional activity.
14. Content Rights and Entrant Responsibilities
Entrants retain ownership of their original rights in their submitted materials, subject to the rights granted in these Terms & Conditions.
By entering, entrants grant Electric and DJ.Studio a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to access, review, reproduce, process, share, promote and use their entry and related materials for the purposes of administering, judging, promoting and delivering the Competition and DJ.Studio Takeover Week.
Entrants are solely responsible for ensuring that their entry does not infringe any third-party rights.
Electric and DJ.Studio are not responsible for any claims arising from an entrant's unauthorised use of music, samples, recordings, edits, images, names, likenesses or other third-party materials.
Entrants agree to indemnify Electric and DJ.Studio against any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses arising from their breach of these Terms & Conditions or infringement of third-party rights.
15. Data Protection and Entrant Information
Entrant information submitted through DJ.Studio may be shared with Electric for Competition administration, judging, winner selection, winner onboarding, communications, promotion and Takeover Week programming.
This may include:
- Name
- Email address
- Country
- Submission status
- Optional diversity information, where provided
- Entry details
- Any other information reasonably required to administer the Competition
Electric and DJ.Studio will use entrant information in accordance with applicable data protection laws and their respective privacy policies.
Entrant information may also be processed by approved delivery partners, including Firebox Creative Limited and Creative Fix Limited, where required to support Competition delivery, communications, promotion, winner onboarding or Takeover Week programming.
Optional diversity information is collected to support representation and final programming review. It is not used during initial judging.
By entering, entrants acknowledge that their information may be processed by both DJ.Studio and Electric for the purposes described in these Terms & Conditions.
16. Communications
By entering the Competition, entrants may receive communications from DJ.Studio and/or Electric relating to:
- Entry confirmation
- Competition administration
- Submission issues
- Judging
- Winner selection
- Winner onboarding
- Electric community profile journey
- DJ.Studio Takeover Week
- Related promotional or follow-up activity
Entrants may also receive relevant future communications from Electric or DJ.Studio where permitted by applicable law and any consent or preferences provided.
17. Disqualification
Electric and DJ.Studio reserve the right to disqualify any entrant or entry that:
- Does not meet the eligibility requirements.
- Is submitted late.
- Is incomplete, corrupted or inaccessible.
- Is submitted outside the official DJ.Studio Contest workflow.
- Contains unlawful, offensive, discriminatory or inappropriate material.
- Infringes third-party rights.
- Uses VSTs.
- Provides false or misleading information.
- Attempts to manipulate or interfere with the Competition.
- Breaches these Terms & Conditions.
Electric and DJ.Studio reserve the right to remove or withhold any entry, profile, content or promotional material connected to a disqualified entrant.
18. Changes, Suspension or Cancellation
Electric and DJ.Studio reserve the right to amend, suspend, cancel or extend the Competition where reasonably necessary due to circumstances outside their control, technical issues, platform issues, legal requirements, scheduling changes, insufficient eligible entries or other operational reasons.
Electric and DJ.Studio will not be liable for any loss, damage, cost or expense arising from any amendment, suspension, cancellation or delay, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.
19. Liability
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Subject to the above, Electric and DJ.Studio will not be liable for:
- Technical failures.
- Platform downtime.
- Internet or connectivity issues.
- Late, lost, incomplete, corrupted or inaccessible entries.
- Unauthorised access to submissions.
- Third-party rights claims arising from entrant content.
- Any indirect or consequential loss.
Entrants are responsible for ensuring their entries are submitted correctly and before the Competition closes.
20. Publicity
Publicity use for selected winners is covered by the performer release and broadcast rights in section 13.
Electric and DJ.Studio may also share non-winning entrant content or profiles where the entrant has chosen to make such content public, such as through an Electric community profile or Mixcloud link.
21. Notification
Electric and DJ.Studio may publish winner announcements, Competition updates, Takeover Week information and related promotional communications through their websites, email channels, social media, app experiences or other reasonable communication routes.
22. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes arising in connection with the Competition will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
23. Contact and Support
For DJ.Studio access, licence or technical issues, entrants should contact DJ.Studio through the chat bubble in the DJ.Studio app.
For Electric community profile, winner onboarding or Takeover Week queries, entrants can contact Electric at support@electricradio.co.uk.
24. Acceptance
By submitting an entry through the DJ.Studio Contest workflow, entrants confirm that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
