We Are MTR (UK) Limited ("we", "us", "our") is the data controller for personal data processed in connection with the Electric platform.

2. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Electric platform across our website (thisiselectric.co.uk) and our native mobile applications (iOS and Android). Where you download our apps through Apple or Google, additional terms and end user licence agreements may also apply.

3. Information we collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account and profile information – such as username, country, music preferences, and other profile fields you provide
  • Authentication identifiers – used to authenticate you and secure your account (for example, Auth0 identifiers)
  • Usage and activity information – such as interactions with the platform and features you use. Where available, you may use incognito mode to limit certain activity (profile views, show joins, and replays) being shown to other users
  • Content you submit – including DJ profile information and, for guest/resident opportunities, mixes that may be uploaded directly to Electric
  • Communications – for example, emails and support requests
  • Payment and subscription information – where you purchase Premium subscriptions or DJ services, we collect transaction details (processed by our payment providers)
  • Technical and device information – such as IP address, device/browser identifiers, and logs used for security and analytics

4. How we use your information

We use your information for the following purposes:

  • To provide and operate the Electric platform – including account creation, login, and core features
  • To administer DJ profiles and DJ opportunities – such as Guest Mix and Residency programmes
  • To process and manage subscriptions and purchases – including trial administration and account status management
  • To send operational communications – such as account and service messages
  • To send marketing communications – when you have consented (see section 6)
  • To improve our platform – measure performance, and understand usage through analytics
  • To prevent fraud and enforce our terms – and keep users safe

5. Legal bases

We rely on different legal bases depending on the processing, including:

  • Contract – where processing is necessary to provide the service you've requested (e.g. account operation, subscriptions)
  • Legitimate interests – such as improving our platform, preventing fraud, and ensuring security
  • Consent – for marketing communications and certain cookies/tracking (see sections 6 and 12)
  • Legal obligations – where we must process data to comply with the law

6. Marketing communications

We use Zoho to send marketing emails (such as newsletters, promotions, and DJ opportunities). You can opt in or out of marketing emails at any time by:

We use the following analytics and tracking technologies to understand how users interact with our platform and improve our services:

  • Google Analytics – to measure website and app usage
  • PostHog – for product analytics and feature usage insights
  • Meta Pixel – for advertising measurement and optimization
  • Taboola Pixel – for advertising measurement and optimization

8. Who we share your information with

We share your information with the following categories of recipients:

  • Companies that hold an ownership interest in We Are MTR (UK) Limited – from time to time, we may share your information with companies that hold an ownership interest in We Are MTR (UK) Limited for internal business purposes, including:

    • Creative Fix Limited
  • Service providers and processors – including:

    • Auth0 (authentication)
    • Firebase/Google/IONOS (database and hosting)
    • Zoho (CRM and email communications)
    • Original Audio (production and processing)
    • Stripe (payment processing for residency subscriptions)
    • RevenueCat (subscription management for Premium)
    • Mixcloud (where mixes are published)
    • Analytics providers (Google, PostHog, Meta, Taboola)
    • Hosting and CDN providers
  • Legal and regulatory authorities – where required by law or to protect our rights

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

9. International transfers

Some of our service providers are located outside the UK and EEA. Where we transfer your data internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions).

10. How long we keep your information

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations. Specifically:

  • Account data – retained while your account is active, and for a reasonable period after closure for legal and operational purposes
  • DJ content and profiles – retained while you are an active DJ and for archival purposes
  • Communications and support records – retained for a reasonable period to provide support and resolve disputes
  • Analytics data – typically retained in aggregated or anonymized form

11. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the following rights:

  • Access – request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification – request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erasure – request deletion of your data in certain circumstances
  • Restriction – request that we limit processing of your data

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account on Electric. For DJ opportunities that involve payment (such as Guest Mix or Residency programmes), you must be 18 years old or have parental consent. Where parental consent is required, the parent or guardian must make the payment and agree to the relevant terms on behalf of the minor.

If you have concerns about how we handle your personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):

15. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice on our platform. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised.
