The Female Takeover: Creating a space for more women in electronic music

We're excited to confirm that pre-registration is now open for our next Female Takeover week, returning from 14th–18th October.

The initiative follows our first edition last year, which featured more than 20 female DJs across the electronic music spectrum.

From house and techno to trance, drum & bass and experimental sets, listeners discovered new names and heard what made each DJ’s music her own.

The takeover aims to creates space for more women in electronic music, championing grassroots talent and improving diversity and representation.

Registration is open until 23:59 UK time on 30th September 2026. No mix is required at this stage and selected DJs will be contacted by email with their slot and further information.

Those taking part will also have access to Electric's advanced DJ toolkit, including Live Studio and Social Manager tools. These allow DJs to prepare and record mixes, add voice, present their show live and create promotional artwork for social media.

DJs will also be featured in Electric's takeover artwork and social coverage.

The takeover is open to women at different stages of their DJ journey, giving participants the opportunity to broadcast through Electric and share their music with its audience and the wider community.

Our initiative aims to increase representation and provide opportunities for DJs to showcase their work. Further details will be provided to selected participants ahead of the takeover.
